Plant-based milks have moved from niche alternatives to mainstream staples in recent years thanks to health, environmental, and dietary trends. Compared to dairy milk, plant-based alternatives have a significantly lower environmental impact across all environmental metrics - land use, water use, greenhouse gas emissions, and eutrophication (i.e., the pollution of ecosystems with excess nutrients), as seen in this visualization. However, there is no clear winner on which plant-based milk is best.
